Meeting Minutes:

Present: Diane Denapoli, Chairperson; Nate Rand, Chairperson; Lynda Vanderhhaven, Treasuer; Katie Gaughen, Secretary;

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM.  The minutes from 11/16/15 were approved.

SEPAC approved the following budget items:
  • $850 for Shut-Up Sisters speaking fee
  • $1200 for country club rental
  • $75 graphics
  • $200 incidentals (nametags, etc.)

Nate provided an update on SEPAC’s partnership with HEF.  HEF approved $1000 for the April 6th Nadja Reilly event.  Ms. Reilly charges $350 for two hours of speaking and is is slated to speak with teacher after school and parents in the evening.  Ms. Reilly is looking for further clarification on the focus of the presentations.  SEPAC officers will review the book to come up with some ideas and will reach out to principals to see what they think is critical.  SEPAC will reach out to PTOs to see if they will partner around providing food for the teacher event.

The taping of Superintendent Spotlight in December went well and should be released soon.

The group then turned toward planning for the upcoming  “Shut-Up Sisters” event.  Information about the event has been posted several places, including:
  • An article in the Hingham Journal
  • Flyers coming out in the schools
  • Facebook
  • Skills for Living
  • The Arc
  • The YMCA
  • Best Buddies
  • Flyers downtown

SEPAC will need to staff the check-in table, as well as the 50/50 table on the night of the event.

Diane will do table settings, Lynda will get cash and cash box, Katie will get nametags, candy, and create a flyer with dates for upcoming events.

SEPAC and SNAP also have several upcoming events:
  • Shut-Up Sisters (2/4)
  • Pizzapalooza (3/16)
  • St. Patrick’s Day Party with SNAP (3/18)
  • Family Day at the Rec (TBD – late February)
  • Dr. Nadja Reilly / HEF Partnership (April 6th)
  • Summer School Informational Event (April – date TBD; with Director; add SNAP for 10 minutes).  Have it at East.  Socialization event.  Open house.

The members decided it would be critical to have Elizabeth Flynn attend the next meeting to help solidify a date and plan for the content of the ESY informational night that SEPAC will host.  It will also be important for Liz to weigh in on topics for Nadja Reilly.  Diane will reach out to Liz to identify a date for a February meeting.
