Acceptance of Minutes – June 8, 2011
Treasurer’s Report:
· Review proposed 2011-2012 SEPAC budget
Communications:
· e-mail from Scituate CORSE Foundation
Questions & Comments:
· Audience comments are always welcome as agenda items are discussed. In addition, SEPAC has set aside ten (10) minutes on this agenda to enable members of the audience to raise questions and make comments on any matter of general concern. To facilitate this process, interested parties are asked to provide the Hingham SEPAC Chairpersons or the Hingham Public Schools Director of Student Services with the nature of the question/comment, in writing, prior to the start of the meeting.

· Review of 2011 – 2012 SEPAC calendar of events (presentations, coffees, meetings, fundraisers)
· Announce/advertise SEPAC’s upcoming events
· Discussion of proposed Fun Run/Road Race for April 2012

Announcements & Adjournment:
The provision of Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) according to federal and state laws and regulations related to the education of children with disabilities includes the following areas: Assessment of Students, Student Identification, Parent and Community Involvement, Curriculum and Instruction, Student Support Services, Faculty, Staff and Administration, School Facilities, Program Plan and Evaluation and Record Keeping.
Meeting Minutes
Present: Donna Keaney, Jean Garrity, Susan Martin, Marisa Ronan, Kim Cross
Co-Chair Donna Keaney called the meeting to order 10:10am.
The minutes from June 8, 2011 were accepted.
Treasurer’s Report: Kim Cross handed out a financial report from the 2010-2011 school year. She also presented a draft of the FY ’12 SEPAC budget for review and revisions. Regarding the SEPAC account, Kim will speak with John Ferris about moving the account to a town account.
Communications: Kim shared an e-mail she had received from the Scituate CORSE foundation requesting funding for an upcoming program. After discussion it was decided that we would not donate this year, but will plan on contributing next year by budgeting perhaps $100 in the budget for this purpose. Kim will contact CORSE to share this information.
Old Business:
Back to school Letter: Marisa presented a draft welcome letter to review and edit. There was great feedback on the graphics, color and direct information. The officers will meet on Thursday September 8th at 9am to prepare the letter for mailing. Donna will contact the school department to reserve the conference room for this purpose. SEPAC will also attempt to have this letter posted on each school’s website. In addition, the SEPAC officers will attend each of the schools’ first PTO meetings to speak about SEPAC and have the welcome letter as a handout.
2011-2012 SEPAC Calendar: The Board decided to continue with their monthly meetings and decided the second Tuesday of every month from 10-12 would work well. Donna requested that any agenda items be in to her by the first Tuesday of the month in order to allow time to draft an agenda and get it posted in accordance with Open Meeting Law.
September – 21st – 9:30am – SEPAC board meeting with Dr. Loud
September 27th – SEPAC Welcome Back Coffee – 10-12 at Hingham Public Library. Donna to confirm availability of the library.
October –
11th – SEPAC Board 10-12pm
19th – Dr. Loud’s presentation on Basic Rights
18th – possibility of joining Hanover for their Basic Rights presentation
13th – Nicole Hammers/financial planner presentation on trusts, guardianships, etc. 7-9pm
November –
8th – SEPAC Board 10-12pm
9th – Family TIES program “Let’s Get Organized” 7-9pm at the Hingham Public Library
December –
7th – Panel discussion on Inclusion 7-9pm in Room 103 at the high school
13th – SEPAC Board 10-12pm Hingham Public Library
January –
10th – SEPAC Board 10-12pm
17th – Pam Hook presentation “Red Flags for Struggling Readers”
Also discussed was a possible springtime presentation on social skills. Marisa and Susan will work on this and discuss further at the next Board meeting.
New Business:
Antique Show: Donna received e-mail from Paula Baldassini that Goosefair Antiques is hoping to get another sponsor from Hingham for the antique show since SEPAC is not interested in doing this. Some possible ideas were the Historical Society, Old Ship Church, or one of the school PTO groups.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:50am.
