General Q&A for items that may not be on the agenda: There was no discussion.
Director of Student Services:
ESY Update: High School transportation pick up in the afternoon will move closer to noon time, students still receiving required 3 hour programming. SNAP and HHS are not coordinating transportation between programs this year due to logistical challenges. Parents will arrange for transportation to SNAP programming. The matter will be reconsidered for 2015 ESY.
Hiring New Staff: HPS has 2 solid candidates for the BCBA role, and 3 candidates for the school psychologist position. Liz O’Neil was hired as the Out of District Coordinator.
The group discussed meeting with the new adjustment counselor to talk about the position’s role in implementing social programming/culture of respect in the district. Liz will miss the August meeting.
School Committee Liaison: Ed reported that HPS agreed that it will not charge SNAP fees for programming held at school property during open hours for the buildings (there may be a fee for Saturday programming).
HPS is working to assist SNAP in identifying the best school to host a Dance program.
September 20 will be the dedication for the new Athletic Fields.
Treasury Report: The SEPAC account balance is $11,124.50. The new fiscal year started July 1.
New Business: SEPAC is looking for a person to represent SEPAC at Foster School.
Old Business:
Event Planning for 2014-15: SEPAC is looking to shape its strategy to serve parents of students with disabilities. SEPAC may ask Leslie Leslie to join a meeting and provide guidance. One idea is to have leaflets at the SNAP picnic scheduled for August 1. The community’s positive response to SNAP may open pathways to more involvement in SEPAC.
Communications/General Inquiries: No report
