Meeting Agenda
10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Informal social – opportunity for attendees to meet and converse
10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Monthly Meeting to discuss SEPAC business
(Audience comments are always welcome as agenda items are discussed. Attendees are encouraged to attend the 30-minute social prior to the start of the board meeting to address matters not related to the agenda.)

Upcoming SEPAC Events:
October 9th, 2013: Sarah Ward Administration (day) and Parent (evening) presentations
The provision of Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) according to federal and state laws and regulations related to the education of children with disabilities includes the following areas: Assessment of Students, Student Identification, Parent and Community Involvement, Curriculum and Instruction, Student Support Services, Faculty, Staff and Administration, School Facilities, Program Plan and Evaluation and Record Keeping.
Meeting Minutes
Present: Board Members: Daniela Andruszkiewicz, Marisa Ronan, Kim Cross, Sonja Finney; School District Personnel: Liz Flynn; School Committee Liaison Edward Schreier. There were 2 additional attendees.
A thirty minute social preceded the business portion of the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m.
The minutes from June 11, 2013 were accepted.
Question and Answer Session: No activity.
Director of Student Services: Liz Flynn discussed HPS access to SEPAC google docs going forward. She clarified that a recent email regarding openings at the state SPED advisory council was targeted at teachers and charter schools. The Parents’ Rights Workshop will be either October 16 or November 23, 2013. HHS will provide childcare this year so parents with younger children can attend more easily. Liz also updated SEPAC on special education vacancies including an open position at HHS and School Psychologist position at East. The speech and language pathologist position at South has been filled. Also, the Coordinated Program Review is not currently linked on the DESE website, but Liz will look into it.
Treasurer’s Report: SEPAC budget as of June 30 is $12,992.51. The board made a thorough examination of budget items from 2012-13 and the proposed 2013-14 budget. SEPAC asked Liz if the school district can pay for SEPAC’s Masspac membership going forward.
New Business:
2013-14 Budget: The board discussed several areas to reduce the overall budget and made some adjustments. The proposed 2013-14 budget was approved.
Hingham Rec July 4th Road Race Sponsorship: SEPAC voted to forgo sponsorship.
Scituate C.O.R.S.E. Foundation: SEPAC voted to forgo sponsorship.
SEPAC Subcommittees: The following subcommittees were established:
SEPAC Branding - Sonja Finney, Marisa Ronan, Daniela Andruszkiewicz
School Committee and HPS Agenda - Liz Flynn, Marisa Ronan, Daniela Andruszkiewicz
Education Site-map - Kerry Ni, Daniela Andruszkiewicz
Events/Presentations - Marisa Ronan, Donna Keaney (transition night/college fair)
Treasury - Kim Cross, Marisa Ronan
Support Group - Marisa Ronan, Diane DeNapoli
In the coming months SEPAC will consider developing presentations using HPS staff and/or Massachusetts Agencies.
Use of Google Drive: SEPAC voted to store Agendas, Meeting Minutes, Treasurer Reports and other written communications/presentations at Google drive.
Communications: No solicitations and/or informational notices were received via either mail or email.
Announcements/Calendar:
- Next SEPAC meeting is August 13, 2013. Social starts at 10 a.m., business meeting starts at 10:30 a.m.
