Treasurer’s Report:
· Update on possible donation to Fourth of July Roadrace

Questions & Comments:
· Audience comments are always welcome as agenda items are discussed. In addition, SEPAC has set aside ten (10) minutes on this agenda to enable members of the audience to raise questions and make comments on any matter of general concern. To facilitate this process, interested parties are asked to provide the Hingham SEPAC Chairpersons or the Hingham Public Schools Director of Student Services with the nature of the question/comment, in writing, prior to the start of the meeting.
Old Business:
· Final revision of SEPAC welcome letter to be distributed
· SEPAC 2011-2012 calendar (speakers, newsletters, fundraising – roadrace update)
New Business:
· Discussion of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) 2010 Report Card for Hingham
· Hingham Education Foundation (HEF) grant applications

Meetings will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The provision of Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) according to federal and state laws and regulations related to the education of children with disabilities includes the following areas: Assessment of Students, Student Identification, Parent and Community Involvement, Curriculum and Instruction, Student Support Services, Faculty, Staff and Administration, School Facilities, Program Plan and Evaluation and Record Keeping.
SEPAC MEETING NOTES
Present: Kim Cross, Pam Berigan, Susan Martin, Donna Keaney, Jean Garrity, and Dr. Jean Curtis Loud
Co-Chair Donna Keaney called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m.
The minutes from the May 25th meeting were accepted.
Treasurer: Kim Cross reported that since last month she has drafted two checks – one to South Shore Therapies for $250.00 for the April presentation and the other to the Hingham Rec Department for the SEPAC sponsorship for the July 4th road race t-shirts. Kim is working on a draft budget for the 2011-2012 year that she will e-mail to the board.
Communications: Jean Garrity shared an e-mail she received from Ellen Keane that provided information regarding staff training interests. Of interest: “Teaching students with emotional/behavioral disabilities; executive functioning skills; and inclusion strategies/co-teaching.” Regarding training they would like for students with specific disabilities, the majority of responses were related to autism, autism spectrum and autism spectrum/social skills/social thinking.
New Business:
HEF Grants: Nicole Hammers and Julie MacKinnon’s “Transition to Adulthood” grant request was reviewed. A motion was made and passed unanimously to fund their grant request in the amount of $1201.00 with the specific requirements of developing a model transition binder (to be completed by October 1, 2011), a transition sequence be developed, in addition to a powerpoint presentation and providing consultation during the school year from these two special education teachers at the secondary level. SEPAC will send a letter to Nicole Hammers and Julie MacKinnon letting them know of our vote.
NCLB Report Card: The 2010 No Child Left Behind Report Card for Hingham was reviewed with Dr. Loud.
Subcommittee Reports: Jean Garrity provided a report from the School Committee Special Education Subcommittee meeting held on May 17, 2011.
Old Business:
Welcome Letter: The draft of the SEPAC welcome letter was reviewed and several edits were suggested. This will continue to be worked on to have a final draft ready to distribute in late summer or early fall.
2011-2012 SEPAC Calendar:
Fundraising: DPW Can/Bottle Drive – Pam Berigan will work on getting a date set
SEPAC Road Race – the SEPAC Board will talk with Tory Dolan to gather more information about organizing the race.
Presentations/Speakers: Jean Garrity will work to schedule the Family TIES program “Let’s Get Organized” for November, as well as
Pam Hook’s presentation “Red Flags for Struggling Readers” to be held in mid-January.
October 19th Dr. Loud will do her presentation “Basic Rights and Responsibilities”
Hanover SEPAC has also invited Hingham parents to their October 18th Basic Rights presentation.
The SEPAC Board will look to meet in July to make certain the calendar is set and also to work on the Welcome Letter.
The SEPAC Board will meet with Dr. Loud on September 21, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. in the School Department Conference Room.
