Old Business:

            Update SEPAC Calendar:

Christmas in the Square, December 8, 2012, - Marisa will send an email to inquire about the fee and location.  She will also order more SEPAC handouts and check on the amount of jingle bell bracelets left over from last year.

The date of Thursday, January 31, 2013, is confirmed for the “Shut Up about Your Perfect Kid” program.  Jean made contact with Frank at South Shore Country Club about using a function room there for the event.  Donna and Jean will meet with Frank to discuss the event.

Jen Milia will do her presentation on typical siblings of children with special needs on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.  The presentation will be approximately 90 minutes long.  It will be held in Room 103 of HHS.  Kim has completed the room request form.

Sarah Ward – Jean is waiting to hear from Sarah Ward’s office regarding the date of October 9, 2013.  The HPS staff would hear Ms. Ward’s presentation in the afternoon, and the parents would attend an evening presentation.  Jean will see if the current price of $2100 will be honored in 2013.

Marisa reported that the Ad Hoc Committee on Special Education Funding will meet on October 23 at Town Hall from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  They will be looking into how circuit breaker works and if the state has any other options for transportation costs, etc.

Jean will contact Mr. Boddie and Dr. McCann about the possibility of doing a transition (from HMS to HHS) presentation (similar to the one Scituate did last year).

            December newsletter mailing:

Ideas for the newsletter were solicited.   Daniela suggested having information written about each board member, their area of “expertise,” and their contact info so that recipients of the newsletter could have quicker access to a board member in the event they have a question about a specific special education issue.

Director of Student Services:

Liz Flynn provided an update on the hiring of Tim Welsh, special education teacher at HHS, who replaced Julianne MacKinnon.  Marisa asked about receiving updates regularly on special education teachers and post them on the SEPAC website.

A question regarding the development of an after-school tutoring network was raised.  Liz said the district doesn’t permit private tutoring at the buildings.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:35 p.m.
