Meeting Minutes
Present: Marisa Ronan; Sonja Finney; Kerry Ni; Sharon Burnett; Donna Keaney; Liz Flynn, Director of Student Services; Liz O’Neill, Out-of-District Coordinator for Special Education; and School Committee Liaisons Ed Schreier and Liza O’Reilly
The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m.
The minutes from August 12, 2014 were accepted.
General Q&A for items that may not be on the agenda: None
Director of Student Services: Liz introduced Liz O’Neill, who is the new, full-time out-of-district coordinator. A discussion about events scheduling included having a welcome coffee for new special education hires in conjunction with the October SEPAC meeting, which will be held in the School Dept. conference room pending word from Liz on its availability. Liz will give Marisa a list of all new special education hires in advance for promotion purposes. The date of October 16 at 7 p.m. was suggested for the Parents’ Rights and Responsibilities presentation by Liz; Liz will secure the venue. Liz indicated availability and willingness to put on other presentations that might be of interest to parents.
School Committee Liaison: Ed noted Liz’s presentation on special education to the School Committee on September 8, as well as Marisa’s presentation of the SEPAC’s annual report on the same night.
Treasury Report: There is no new information concerning treasury since Pat Velie’s replacement has not yet started work and there has been no new financial activity in the past month. The new HPS business contact person replacing Pat Velie is Aisha Nelson, who will start on September 17.
New Business: Donna Keaney gave a brief update on SNAP activity and new planned programs. The regularly scheduled November SEPAC meeting will have to be moved to either Monday, November 10, or Wednesday, November 12, due to the Veterans’ Day holiday on Tuesday the 11th.
Communications/General Inquiries: No report
Announcements:
CHADD Parent-to-Parent ADHD Training will take place in Room 103 at HHS, beginning Thursday, September 25 and meeting weekly for seven weeks from 7-9 p.m.
Next SEPAC meeting – Tuesday, October 14 at 10 a.m. at the School Department Conference Room; will include a welcome coffee for new special education staff hires
